February is American Heart Month

This February, Rx Compassion will be spreading awareness about maternal heart health in recognition of American Heart Month. Pregnancy places unique demands on a woman’s heart, and awareness is a critical step in protecting mothers and families.

Cesarean Awarenss Month - April 2026

April is Cesarean Awareness Month—a time dedicated to shining a light on the realities, risks, and opportunities for safer surgical care in childbirth. At Rx Compassion, we use this month to elevate conversations around prevention, evidence-based surgical techniques, and the education families need to make informed decisions. With C-sections touching nearly one in three births, awareness has never been more important. Throughout April, Rx Compassion will continue to share research, clinical insights, and community stories that help improve maternal outcomes and reduce preventable complications. Our mission remains clear: to ensure safer births through compassion, knowledge, and innovation in surgical practice.

A brief History
of Cesarean Awareness Month

Initiated by the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN), a non-profit organization founded by Esther Booth Zorn along with like-minded women in 1982 advocating against unnecessary C-sections.

ICAN's chief aim is to improve mother and child well-being by raising awareness about unnecessary Cesareans, support maternal recovery following Cesarean, as well as encouraging normal vaginal birth after prior Cesarean delivery.

Reason Behind the Cesarean Section Awareness Month Ribbon

Donate to support healthier pregnancies, safer births and to help eradicate Placenta Accreta Spectrum.
  • The burgundy color of the awareness ribbon signifies the blood loss during the process of childbirth.

  • Displaying it upside down reflects the helplessness and dilemma women face when their delivery is not in their hands.

  • The loop of the ribbon represents the woman's pregnant belly and the tails of the ribbon signify the woman's arms.
